Pedal Power - Kolkata To Ladakh In A Rickshaw
The mighty Himalayas has always attracted people from around the world for the amount of adventure it offers. Ranging from two wheelers to hard core 4X4 enthusiasts.
The latest to join this league is a daring rickshaw driver named Satyen Das. The 40 year old set off to ride up the world's highest motorable pass, Khardung-la. To spice it up even more, Satyan pedalled his rickshaw all the from Kolkata. Yes, PEDALLED.

Satyan, who transports people in Kolkata, saved his income over the years and with the help of a few donations, pedalled off for the ultimate adventure of his life time equipped with basic tools and a route map as a part of his luggage.
The humble person says since the rickshaw was his main source of income and spent most of his life with it, he could not dream of Khardung-La without involving his beloved rickshaw.

Spending INR 15,000, Satyan refurbished his rickshaw, which got a new lightweight body, additional brakes and a set of new tyres. This adrenaline junkie is not new to the rickshaw adventure. He had already travelled to the infamous Rohtang Pass in 2008 with his wife and daughter.
His club members, who are taking care of his wife and daughter say that the trip would cost around INR 80,000. They have opened an account and given Satyan an ATM card to access this cash.
Satyan, aims at covering 40 to 50 km a day, is looking to finish his expedition in five months time. Already in Uttar Pradesh, he will enter Srinagar and then Ladakh. On his way back, he will enter Manali via Rohtang Pass.
Planning to spread World Peace, he is trying to enter the Guinness Book Of Records. Having hardly any education at all, Satyan looks at this trip as a great opportunity to learn.
