At the IndianOil Grand Prix of India, Jorge Martin took top honors in the Tissot Sprint, while Marco Bezzecchi from Mooney VR46 Racing Team seized pole position. Championship leader Bagnaia came second and eight-time world champion Marc Marquez secured the third position, marking his second season podium appearance.
Jorge Martin's triumphant performance settings at the Buddh International Circuit could be seen as a thrilling preview of what's to come in Sunday’s main event, the IndianOil Grand Prix of India. Earlier that day, Marco Bezzecchi blazed through the qualifying rounds, clocking the best time of one minute, 43.9470 seconds, positioning himself as the clear contender for both the Tissot Sprint and the grand event of the main day.

During the practice sessions, Martin foresaw the unfolding of this intriguing situation. He specifically pointed out that the first lap of the sprint and the layout of the first corner lead to an exciting round. As the events unfolded, Bezzecchi’s teammate Luca Marini braked inaccurately causing a disruption that pushed the Italian onto the sidelines, leading to the exit of five other racers. Consequently, Bezzecchi slipped down to the 17th spot while Martin capitalized on this and held onto the lead throughout the sprint.
Martin later shared his mindset, stating that he was not giving his all while focusing on the turn, his main aim was to widen the gap and assess the track conditions, which he felt would provide them an advantage in the upcoming encounter against Marco.

In the climax to the Tissot Sprint, Jorge Martin clinched victory and 12 points, while championship leader Francesco Bagnaia secured second place with 9 points, and Marc Marquez, an eight-time world champion, graced the third spot on the podium with this turning out to be his second of the season.
Bezzecchi impressed everyone with his resilience and whirlwind speed. Having started as 17th due to an early mishap, he managed to bring himself into contention for the fifth position by the 10th lap. In the final showdown, he managed to steal the fifth spot from Fabio Quartararo from Yamaha.
