Tijil Rao and Arjun Nair Rise Against the Odds: JK Tyre National Racing Championship

Dark Don Racing's Tijil Rao and Momentum Motorsports' Arjun S Nair, both hailing from Bengaluru, are set to attract a lot of attention in their respective categories as the second round of the 26th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship takes place at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore this weekend.

These competitors showed impressive skill during the tournament's first round. Both managed to ward off strong competition to finish first in their respective categories, and they will be looking to maintain their momentum and solidify their top-ranking positions.

The upcoming round is the second to last of the championship, offering an opportunity for the racers to bolster their overall standings. An intense clash is expected between the leading contenders across categories as they vie for a step closer to the championship title.

Tijil entered the championship with high expectations and didn't disappoint, leading in the LGB Formula 4 category with 27 points. Despite triumphing in the inaugural race and placing twice more, a sixth-place finish in the final race held him back from earning more points.

Tijil will face fierce competition this weekend, however, as Arya Singh from Kolkata is hot on his heels, just one point behind. Arya also put on a strong performance in the first round in August, winning a competition and running a close second twice. He missed out on a top finish due to a DNF in the final race.

Vishwas Vijayraj of Ahura Racing from Nellore and Ruhaan Alva of M Sports, Bengaluru, are tied at 20 points. Despite only leading once each, they held steady and will strive to close the lead. Raghul Rangasamy from Chennai (MSport) and Bengaluru's Diljith TS (Dark Don Racing) will also be pulling out all the stops to show their capabilities and rebound in the second round. Meanwhile, Arjun was on top form in the JK Tyre Novice Cup, earning 34 points. He got off to an impressive start and will seek to maintain his dominance.

JKNRC Round 2

Both Joel Joseph of DTS Racing from Ernakulam, with 25 points, and Neythan McPherson from Pune, representing Momentum Motorsports with 24 points, are poised to shake up the competition in an attempt to disrupt Arjun’s lead.

Additionally, there will be two motorcycle races, the Royal Enfield GT Cup and the 250 Cup, serving to entertain the two-wheeler enthusiasts. In the GT Cup, Abhishek Vasudev from Bengaluru stood out, netting 17 points in the first round by winning a race and taking second place in another.

The 250 Cup leaderboard is led by Hubballi’s Sarvesh Ballapa, followed by Abhinav G from Coimbatore and Rohit Lad from Bangalore. The competition will be streamed live on JK Tyre Motorsport’s social media pages.
