Yong Ho Ji And His Used Tyre 'Mutant' Sculptures

Ji Yong Ho is an artist native to Korea and is well known worldwide for the incredibly artistic sculptures he creates. Sculptures not made out of stone or clay or wood or even metal, but from an unlikely material - rubber from used tyres.

Used tyres are a major source of pollution as majority of used tyres do not get recycled. With his tyre sculptures Ji Yong Ho gives a new meaning to recycling. All the sculptors created by Yong Ho are animals, most of which look scary and alien. Yong Ho calls them "Mutants." He says, rubber is a natural material, which takes a new natural form in the form of his sculptures.

Ji Yong Ho's incredibly detailed sculptures range in size from 10 feet long sharks to dogs measuring a few inches. Check out the gallery below to see his bizarre, but beautiful rubber sculptures.
