Janis Joplin's Psychedelic Porsche 356C Cabriolet Sells For $1.76 Million
Rock legend Janis Joplin's Psychedelic 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet sold for $1.76 million at RM Sotheby's "Driven by Disruption" auction in New York.
According to auction house RM Sotheby, the amount paid for Joplin's Porsche represents a new record for any Porsche 356 sold at public auction. The car is known for its psychedelic paint scheme which is actually a mural known as the "History of the Universe". The car sold for almost three times its estimated pre-sale price of $600,000 after a five minute bidding war between seven bidders.
