Indian Rally Drivers Dominate APRC 2023: Jahaan Gill Wins His Maiden FIA Junior APRC Title
The final round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) 2023 held in Indonesia turned out to be a triumphant event for the Indian team. JK Tyre Motorsport drivers, bolstered by support from Vamcy Merla Sports Foundation, showcased some of the finest performances in the international rally circuit.
Among the many outstanding performances, 21-year-old Jahaan Singh Gill from Chandigarh shone the brightest, clinching the prestigious FIA Junior Asia Pacific Rally Championship title 2023 in his debut attempt.

Jahaan's Maiden International Title
Jahaan has been in impeccable form at the domestic circuit, having recently sealed the Junior Indian National Rally Championship in Coorg. His stellar performance continued in the international rally, finishing 8th overall in the APRC R2 class.
Despite the challenging terrain and weather conditions, Jahaan kept his act together, putting forth a determined and focused drive to take home his maiden international title.
Suhem Kabeer Dominates NVA Category
Sharing the spotlight with Jahaan was Suhem Kabeer from Mysuru. Driving for the first time in an international rally, Suhem, along with his navigator PVS Murthy, posted impressive timings to win the NVA category and achieve the 4th position overall.
Despite facing the challenges of an unknown terrain and slippery conditions, Suhem managed to finish an impressive second in the M2 class of the Indonesia National Rally Championship.
Lokesh Gowda's Memorable Outing
Bengaluru's Lokesh Gowda, on a comeback trail in rallying, had a memorable outing. He finished second in the NVA category and third in the M2 category for Team JK Tyre Motorsports in the premier continental championship. His efforts also earned him a fifth position in the overall category.
The success of the team didn't stop there. Team JK Tyre Motorsport was awarded the best team performance award, adding another feather to the cap of Indian motorsport.
Recap Of The Danau Toba Rally
The Danau Toba Rally was a test of grit and skill for the participants. Spread across 12 all-gravel roads, the conditions varied from wide open plantation sections to twisty winding mountainous sections.
Among the top contenders were local entrants from Jakarta, with Rifat Sungkar winning the rally driving a Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo. The APRC 2023 was a landmark event for Indian motorsport. The stellar performances by Jahaan, Suhem, and Lokesh are a testament to the rising prowess of Indian rally drivers in the international circuit.
