The Wall of Death aka "Maut ka Kuaa" as it is known in India, is a carnival sideshow features a barrel-shaped wooden cylinder, made of wooden planks. Motorcyclists, or the drivers of small vehicles, move along the vertical wall and perform stunts, the vehicle is held in place by friction and centrifugal force.
A horrifying video shows the moment an Indian stuntman attempting the infamous wall of death is crushed by a car above him. The stuntman, Jitu Bhankar, 26, was on his motorbike, circling the 30ft deep wall, in Jeypore, Odisha, when one of the cars above him lost control.
The back of the car hit the motorcyclist knocking him unconscious before it falls on top of him. A witness captured the moment the car hit the adrenaline enthusiast, as others rush to pull his lifeless body out of the arena.
The stuntman was not wearing any safety gear; not even a helmet was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
A member of the crew reported the incident to the Jeypore police station. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rajendra Senapati, from Jeypore Police Station, said: "The organiser had been given permission for the show by the sub-collector of the district and it had been ongoing for the past two weeks. It's a dangerous show. We have now arrested the organiser and car driver."
Our condolences to the family and friends of the stuntman who lost his life in the dangerous Wall of Death.
