The Indian Army has made a significant move towards sustainable transportation by acquiring hydrogen-powered buses. This latest initiative aligns with global efforts to reduce emissions and hence promote green mobility.

Vehicles for the Indian Army are produced by specialised units of Indian automobile manufacturers. These units ensure that the vehicles meet the specific design and feature requirements of the army.

In March 2023, the Indian Army signed an agreement with NTPC Limited for the procurement of these hydrogen buses. They are specifically designed for deployment in the northern border regions of India.
