Ichwan Noor’s Spherical Beetle Car Art
Ichwan Noor, an artist from Jakarta, Indonesia has a unique style of art. He takes cars and turns them into art - by literally compressing them into geometrical shapes. His latest creation is a yellow 1953 VW Beetle that he has been turned into a perfect, shiny sphere.
The art was put on display at last month's Art Basel Hong Kong. We do not know how Noor managed to roll the Beetle into a ball of metal, but seeing that the windows are still intact we assume the art piece does not have same materials it was built of when it came out of the factory. Besides the spherical Beetle Ichwan Noor has also compressed Beetles into cubes. Images are in the gallery below.
