Dubai AirShow: IAF Tejas Shows Off New Long-Range Arabian Fangs
The Indian Air Force's HAL LCA Tejas has returned to the tarmac at the Dubai Airshow. After dazzling crowds at its last appearance at the UAE's airshow, the Tejas has returned this year sporting some brand new hardware.
The Tejas this year sports some hardware made in the UAE in the form of the Al-Tariq long-range precision-guided munitions (LR-PGMs). These new munitions help increase the stand-off range of the iAF's Tejas from 45km to 120km allowing the light combat aircraft to go after a whole lot more targets safely.

The integration of these LR-PGMs is thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Al Tariq, a division of the UAE-based EDGE Group, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the Indian aerospace major responsible for the manufacturing of the Tejas, the world's smallest and lightest supersonic fighter jet.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed earlier in the year between India's lone aircraft manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Al-Tariq which is a joint venture between the UAE government-owned EDGE and South Africa's Denel Dynamics.

According to Denel Dynamics, the Al-Tariq munitions system provides the user with all-weather, day or night operational capabilities, utilising GPS/INS guidance or Imaging Infrared (IIR) with complete Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) capability, or a Semi-active Laser (SAL) seeker.
The system can also be fitted with an RF proximity fuse for area targeting, using a pre-fragmented warhead. It is an autonomous target acquisition with a stand-off range of over 100 kilometres depending on the configuration.

The Al-Tariq system can be used for an array of missions and targets and allows the user to provide close air support to troops and artillery or go on deep battlefield interdiction missions and attack infrastructure targets like bridges and industrial areas or even attack air defence units, surface-to-air missile launchers, supply columns or even enemy aircraft sitting on runways and hardened aircraft shelters among others.
Thoughts About The IAF's LCA Tejas & Its Enhanced Hardware

The IAF Tejas that is on the tarmac at the Dubai Airshow this year, looks to be a whole lot more deadlier than before. This is thanks to the addition of the Al-Tariq long-range munitions from the UAE's own Edge Group which if and when deployed will make the Tejas an even more capable light combat aircraft.
