Honda Reveals Its Formula One Powertrain For 2015

By Ajinkya

The 2014 Formula One Championship is almost coming to a close. The season has been dominated by Mercedes powered vehicles. At the forefront have been two drivers that have outclassed every other racer. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are the only two drivers competing for the top spot.

Next year Honda will be making a return to Formula One in the 2015 Championship. They will not be having a Formula One car competing, however, they will be providing engines to certain teams.

Yasuhisa Arai, Senior Managing Officer of Honda R&D Co., Ltd., commented, "Working toward Honda's F1 participation starting in the 2015 season, development of the power unit is entering its prime phase at our R&D facility in Sakura (Tochigi, Japan), where we transferred our automobile motor sports development earlier this year."

He further added, "In addition to conducting simulations, we have moved onto the next stage where we conduct full-fledged bench tests of the engine while connecting the turbocharger and energy recovery systems. In the meantime, our racing operation base in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, has become fully operational."
