Honda Motorcycles Commences The 2022 Hunt For Next-Generation Iconic Indian Rider
Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India has commenced the hunt for the next-generation young racing rider in India. This programme will give an opportunity to young and talented young riders across the country to enter the world of professional motor racing.
This programme was kick-started by conducting the 1st round of IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Hunt 2022 at the Aruani Gridin (Bangalore). Moreover, round 1 of IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Hunt 2022 saw the participation of riders from 5 Indian cities.
These 5 cities include Chennai, Coimbatore, Malappuram, Bangalore, and Lucknow. In addition to that, some of them participated riders in this programme were as young as 9 years old.
Sharing an overview on the participation in Bengaluru, Mr Prabhu Nagaraj - Operating Officer, Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, "The IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Hunt is a platform developed by Honda that gives an avenue to aspiring and budding racers from all over India to unleash their potential on racetrack. We have kicked-off the 2022 hunt for next-gen racing sensation from Bengaluru and shortlisted candidates will be participating in the next level. The best of these riders will get an opportunity to ride and compete in 2022 season of IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup CBR150R. In long term, Honda's focus is to put young Indian talent on multiple National & International platforms like Asia Talent Cup, Asia Road Racing Championship, Endurance championships. I am confident that these budding riders will change the scenario of motorsports in India and make the nation proud both at national as well as international level."
Speaking about this programme, Phase 1 of this programme will see all the 9 shortlisted candidates going through 3 levels of rigorous tests, in which the first test pushes the candidates physically to understand their fitness levels.
After this, the candidates are analysed and judged on the basis of their riding skills and manoeuvrability on the race track. However, there is another test which involves the parents of these riders to understand their passion and support to become the next iconic rider from the country.
After shortlisting the candidates from Phase 1, these top candidates will be further trained and promoted to ride on the track in Phase 2. While all these riders will be talented, it is from this lot that Honda will be hand-picking the best-of-the-best talent for future development. Also, these riders will also get an opportunity to race in the ongoing 2022 IDENITSU Asia Talent Cup (IATC) and 2022 Thailand Talent Cup (TTC).
It is also worth mentioning that the Pune's Sarthal Chavan was the first Indian rider to secure a podium in the 2022 Thailand Talent Cup (TTC).
