The Harley Davidson Bike became a reality after a 21 year old William S Harvey prepared a blueprint of an engine that could be fitted in to a bicycle frame. William partnered with Arthur Davidson in 1904 to start Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

The First Bike
Harley and Davidson worked in a 10X15 feet wooden factory to build their first motorcycle in 1904.

First Buyer
Henry Meyer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA has been recorded as the first buyer of a Harley Davidson bike.

First Showroom
C.H Lang Set up Harley Davidson's first dealership in Chicago, USA.

Racing Legend
Harley Davidson entered and won a race for the first time in 1905.Five years later Harley Davidson gained fame after it won all first places in hill climb, endurance and speed races.

Harley Davidson set up a new plant in 1906 with six workers in 1906. It also released catalogue in the same year. Harley Davidson hired its first full time employee in 1910.

First Woman HD Rider
The first woman to ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle was Janet Davidson, an aunt of Arthur who used to help them with pin striping and writing the brand name on the bike.

First V-Twin Motor
Harley Davidson launched its first motorcycle powered by a V-Twin engine in 1909. The engine could deliver a peak power of 7bhp.

A Cult Classic
Harley Davidson motorcycles became cult classics within a few years of their launch. Malcolm Forbes, the founder of the Forbes magazine loved Harley Davidson so much that he not only owned 50 bikes but also gifted many motorcycles to his friends.

Harley Davidson began assembling its bikes outside the USA for the first time in 1998 when it opened its plant in Manaus, Brazil.

The Most expensive Harley Davidson is the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide which was priced at $40,000. (Approximately INR22 lakhs)
