Man Spends Rs 18 Lakh For Fancy Registration Number — The Heights Of Vanity?
A guy in Thiruvananthapuram spent a whopping Rs 18 lakh for a fancy vehicle registration number. The Thiruvananthapuram RTO had auctioned the fancy number with a base price of Rs 1 lakh.
Most of the luxury car and superbike owners in India crave for fancy registration numbers, and in a recent auction held in Thiruvananthapuram, a guy spent a whopping Rs 18 lakh on a fancy vehicle registration number.

A pharmacy owner in Thiruvananthapuram paid a record auction price of Rs 18 lakh for a fancy vehicle registration number. The auction was held on March 20, 2017.

KS Balagopal, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, clinched the fancy number ‘KL 01 CB 1' for his Toyota Land Cruiser which is worth more than Rs 1 crore. Compared to the price of the vehicle the amount paid for the number is not that huge.

Apart from Balagopal, three luxury car owners and a superbike owner participated in the auction. The bidding started with a base price of Rs 1 lakh.

The entire procedure was supervised by Deputy Transport Commissioner (South Zone), CK Ashokan, two assistant commissioners and Thiruvananthapuram RTO B Muralikrishnan. The auction was video recorded.

Sources stated that the RTO had put 27 fancy numbers for auction. The RTO received 210 applications for the numbers and the CB series alone received 67 applications.
