Futuristic Taxi Concepts - Public Transportation Of The Future
People during early 20th century had wild ideas about how the world would be in the 21st century. They imagined flying cars, buildings in the sky and so on. But now that we are living in the 21st century we know none of those fantastic ideas came to be true.
It is now time for the citizens of the world from the 21st century to let their imagination run wild. Designers and dreams are already on it. Following is a small list of futuristic concept designs of what may or may not be the taxis and public transports of the future. Take a look.

Renault Runner
Renault Runner is a concept taxi designed by Walter M. Robert. The idea behind its design is a taxi-road train hybrid. Renault Runner could be used either as a city taxi or as a public transport vehicle. The later could be achieved by connecting up to 3 Runners.

Renault Runner
Few of the notable features envisioned by the designer include the following:
Solar powered, a shell that can either be opaque or entirely transparent, providing 360 degree view to the occupants, kinetic energy regeneration & intelligent LED lights.

Public Transport 2020
This mini city taxi is simply referred to as Public Transport 2020 by its designer, Slovakian based Marcel Zuziak. He envisions a future where hundreds of these driverless ‘bugs' navigate around an intelligent city, connected to each other via a system.

Public Transport 2020
Passengers simply get in, enter their designation and relax. It can accommodate four.

Elph
The designer behind the Elph concept vehicle is Rizki Tarisa. The concept behind the design is a one of kind city and off-road personal vehicle. The Elph can seat two and in the city it takes advantage of its compact size, while driving as well as during parking.

Elph
In off-road mode Elph's unique rear wheels will come into action. The wheels are flexible, allowing a portion to become flat. This provides improved traction while off-roading.

AirFlow
AirFlow is a public transport concept hovercraft design by Lukas Medeisis. AirFlow was designed specifically for use in Helsinki, Finland. The hovercraft public transport will be able to carry 40 passengers, including the driver and a couple of wheelchairs or baby trolleys.

AirFlow
The design also accommodates bicycles. The roof is a transparent solar panel that will generate power to run the front steering propellers.

Credo E-Bone Bus
The E-Bone is a realistic zero emission concept bus designed by Peter Simon. The bus runs on power delivered by lithium ion batteries and hydrogen fuel cells.

Credo E-Bone Bus
Running the bus will be four wheel hub mounted electric motors. The weight of the bus will be considerably reduced by the use of lightweight plastic composites to build the body.

Future Taxi-Cab
Designer Petr Kubik's idea of a futuristic city taxi is this. The design concept is that of a robotic taxi that can seat two along with light baggage. A single seater with more space for luggage could also be designed.

Future Taxi-Cab
These taxis are to be used in mega cities where these transport robots will navigate on their own by communicating with each other and other vehicles and obstacles on road.

City Aquatic Transport (CAT)
CAT is the design product of Cal Craven. The designer thinks of CAT as a personal taxi a passenger can hail from the several docks spread across the water's edge through a city. Passengers can either drive the CAT or set it to automatic.

City Aquatic Transport (CAT)
A CAT will have user amenities such as Wi-Fi and conference table. This will allow meetings to be held within a CAT. It could also be used a tourist vehicle.
