Flying Taxis: Aska A5 Hybrid Vehicle To Launch In India By 2027

Flying cars are on the horizon, with global efforts underway to bring them to reality. In India, flying taxis might soon be operational in cities like Chennai and Bengaluru. Recently, a foreign company announced the development of a hybrid flying vehicle powered by both electricity and fuel.

The company, Aska Fly, based in Northern California, is behind the creation of the Aska A5. This innovative vehicle can travel on roads and take to the skies. It operates using both electricity and fuel, offering versatility in transportation.

Aska A5 Flying Taxi Set for India Launch

Aska Fly has been working on this project for seven years, unveiling a prototype last year. The company plans to make the Aska A5 available for purchase by 2027. This vehicle doesn't need a runway for takeoff or landing; it can ascend and descend vertically or at an angle.

Equipped with two front rotors and four rear rotors, the Aska A5 resembles an airplane with wings that fold at the push of a button. When folded, it functions like a regular road vehicle. The vehicle can accommodate four passengers and weighs between 5,000 and 6,000 pounds.

The Aska A5 features a 100 kWh battery pack alongside a fuel-powered engine to extend its range. It can fly over 402 km on a full charge, reaching speeds exceeding 241 km/h. The vehicle is set to enter the global market soon.

The expected price is $800,000, approximately Rs. 6 crore 72 lakhs in Indian currency. Interest is already high, with over 100 potential buyers expressing interest according to the company's announcement.

Testing and Future Prospects

The Aska A5 has undergone extensive testing on major U.S. roads, covering over 800 km with impressive results. Long-distance flight tests are anticipated soon, reinforcing expectations for its market debut.

DriveSpark Thinks

Flying taxis may soon become a reality in Indian cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi. While vehicles capable of flying and road travel are nearing market availability globally, their presence in India remains uncertain.
