Ferrari Driver Sues City Over Pothole Damage — Wins Huge Compensation
A Ferrari 458 owner has received a huge payout from a city council after a pothole caused extensive damage to his supercar.
A Ferrari driver who sued a city council after a pothole damaged his 458 Italia supercar has been awarded £10,000 (Rs 8,06,790) as compensation.

Scott Nicholas, 44, was cruising along in his Ferrari 458 at around 10:30 p.m. last May when his supercar went over the huge pothole and sustained significant damage.
The red Ferrari's encounter with the pothole left it scarred. The passenger's side airbag went off and destroyed one of the 458's alloy wheels. The pothole encounter also required the suspension to be realigned.

What made it even more problematic for Nicholas was that he had to wait for three months to get his 'pride and joy' which was the necessary time required for the parts to arrive from Italy.

Nicholas took the Peterborough city council to a small claims court over the incident. The father-of-two who will be donating his compensation money also stated that the council made every possible move to get out of paying out.

Nicholas told the Mirror "In court I just felt they were obnoxious. They threw everything they could to try and get out of paying out. They even tried to say a supercar shouldn't be on the road. All I claimed for was the damage and the repair costs, nothing else. I was very sensible about it. It was never about the money; it was the principle."

The Peterborough city council has confirmed that the compensation was the biggest sum they have ever paid out for pothole-related damage. Fixing the pothole would have cost the council a measly £53 (Rs 4,286) to repair.
