Ferrari 458 Italia China Edition Gets A Hot Wheels Version

The state of the human world is such that only a privileged few are fortunate enough to ever experience the joy of owning a sports car. So, never mind a special edition supercar. The only option the majority of us are left with is to live the dream by, well, owning a toy car maybe?

We know, not all of you will be particularly enthused by the idea of owning a toy car, but hear us out. This one here is a Special Edition Ferrari, with a golden dragon tatoo. Now do we have your attention?

The original 458 Italia China Edition

Last year in April, Ferrari completed 20 years in the People's Republic of China. The most populous country in the world also happens to be a significant buyer of Ferrari cars. To show its gratitude Ferrari released a China Edition of Ferrari 458 Italia.

Golden longma livery

This was unlike other patriotic special edition models which Lamborghini comes out with. Instead of the national flag Ferrari chose to decorate the exterior of the 458 Italia with golden longma livery. (A longma is a mythical Chinese winged horse with dragon scales).

The Hot Wheels version

Only 20 examples were made and we will not even bother to mention the price since its was out of bounds for all of us. Now though, thanks to Hot Wheels, regular people have an opportunity to buy a toy version of this very car.

1:18 scale model

The Hot Wheels version of the China Edition Ferrari 458 Italia is an exact 1:18 scale die-cast replica, complete with the golden longma livery.

Interior

The real car had gold embroidery on the inside and start button, with the ‘start' reading in Chinese. Hot Wheels says even these minor details feature in the scale model. That's some attention to detail.

Exterior

Other features from the original car have been carried over as well, including the gold coloured wheels, front winglets and side skirt outlines.

The special exterior 'Red'

The Hot Wheels version sports the same unique "Marco Polo red" paint from the China Edition Ferrari.
