This F1 Driver Is On A Diet To Compensate His Overweight Car
Sahara Force India Formula One team has asked its driver Sergio Perez to go on a diet to lose weight to compensate an overweight car.
India's Formula One racing team, the Sahara Force India has asked its driver Sergio Perez to go on a diet to compensate for an overweight car.

Yes, Mexican driver Perez was training this winter on his upper body strength, and by doing so, he had put on some weight. To adapt to the new F1 regulations drivers were asked to increase their weight.

As per new rules, the cars need to have a minimum weight limit, without fuel but with the driver. The weight has been increased this year for maximum lap advantage.

To exploit this advantage Perez and his teammate, Esteban Ocon put on 5kg of muscle over the winter training. And the other drivers did the same.

But later on, Perez was asked to lose some weight as the car put on some extra weight. So, Perez has lost almost 3kg since the Barcelona testing. But he will put on the lost weight once the team manages to take out the extra weight from the car.

Perez said, "I tried so hard to lose weight in the last couple of weeks since Barcelona (testing). Obviously, I increased my weight from last year purely by training harder, putting on muscle, but I was on an extreme diet all last week and still now...I am all the time very hungry."
