Dubai AirShow: Edge Group's Sinyar Unmanned Jet Plane Attracts Eyeballs
At the Dubai Airshow 2023, the UAE's Edge Group made a significant splash with the unveiling of Sinyar, their all-new jet-powered unmanned aircraft. The Sinyar was one of 11 defence solutions unveiled by the Edge Group at the Dubai AirShow
Based on the Flaris LAR01 personal jet, developed by Polish company Flaris, the Edge Group's Sinyar is looking to redefine the landscape of autonomous aviation with its fast reacting UAV that offers multi-mission flexibility and can carry high payloads.

The Sinyar offers some truly interesting capabilities. These include the ability to operate at altitudes of up to 30,000 ft (9,144 metres, way above Mount Everest) and carrying a payload of up to 450 kg. This was made possible through EDGE Group's strategic 50% investment in the Polish aircraft manufacturer Flaris which will be producing the unmanned aircraft for the Edge Group.
The Sinyar is based on the Flaris LAR01, a 5-seater light jet intended for general aviation uses. The Polish jet has a crew of just one pilot and can carry four more passengers. First revealed at the 2013 Paris Air Show, the LAR01 is powered by a single Williams FJ33-5A jet engine which is capable of putting out 8.3kN of maximum thrust.

The production-spec Flaris LAR01 has a projected top speed of Mach 0.72 (889km/h) and a cruising speed of 800km/h. The Polish jet has a range of 3,500 kilometres and a service ceiling of 31,000 feet or 9,449 metres.
The Polish jet-based Sinyar wasn't the only highlight from EDGE Group at the airshow. The company also showcased other innovative platforms such as the Reach-M - an armed, medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft system (UAS), and the HT-100 synchropter UAS.

Mansour Al Mulla, Managing Director and CEO of Edge Group, voiced his confidence in the newly launched systems. He stated, "The Dubai Airshow is one of the world's leading aerospace events and the perfect platform from which EDGE can showcase its rapidly expanding portfolio of advanced aerospace, space, and air defence products and solutions. We are proud to be the event's Defence Technology Partner and at the biennial show at which we will be launching several new technologically-advanced systems which will compete with the best in the industry for performance as well as price-point, highlighting the extensive and diverse capabilities across the Group, and the potential for inter-operability across multiple domains, while continuing to push the boundaries of innovation and strengthening sovereign capabilities."
Thoughts About The Edge Group's Sinyar Unmanned Jet
The unveiling of the Sinyar at the Dubai Airshow 2023 marks an important milestone for the UAE's Edge Group as it looks to rise to the top of the autonomous air systems domain.
