Dubai AirShow: Edge Group Expands Global VTOL Capabilities - Showcases HT-100 Unmanned Helicopter
Emirati defence & tech conglomerate company Edge Group is showcasing the HT-100 multi-role unmanned performance helicopters at the 2023 Dubai AirShow.
The Dubai AirShow saw Edge Group entity, Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) add several HT-100 unmanned helicopters for integration onto the vessels of one of its major export programmes.
The HT-100 multi-role, unmanned helicopter is the work of Swiss firm, Anavia, in which the Edge Group recently purchased a 52 percent shareholding as part of its strategy of building its autonomous air system capabilities to become a global leader in the domain.
The HT-100 is powered by a single-shaft turbine engine, capable of delivering 20.1bhp (15kW) which propels this tiny unmanned chopper to a maximum airspeed of 120km/h or 65 knots. The Anavia HT-100 can fly for up to a maximum flight time of 250 minutes.
Anavia's HT-100 is a tiny drone with minuscule dimensions. The copter measures 2.82 metres long, 0.72 metres wide and 1 metre tall and has a rotor diameter of 3.75 metres.
The Anavia HT-100 has an operational ceiling of 3,000 metres or 10,000 feet. When carrying a payload of 50 kilogrammes (the HT-100's dry weight is a minuscule 55 kilos), the unmanned helicopter has a range of up to 100km. However, with lighter payloads, the range of the HT-100 is greatly increased with the tiny chopper capable of carrying a payload of 20 kilos up to 400 kilometres.
The HT-100 offers customers a fully-encrypted Mesh IP data link setup and the drone can be equipped with Satcom and LTE on demand. Depending on national regulations, radio setup, antenna configuration and terrain, the HT-100 has a data link range of 200km.
Speaking at the Dubai Airshow, Mansour AlMulla, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, said, "In just over a week since we announced the acquisition of a majority shareholding in ANAVIA, we have now received the first significant international order for the HT-11. This is representative of the confidence being placed on EDGE and its partners in the development and delivery of sophisticated cross-complementary autonomous air, sea, and land solutions. This is the first of many orders we are expecting for this exceptional aircraft, underscoring the value of the innovative and symbiotic partnerships and acquisitions strategy with SMEs and industry specialists we are adopting for continued technological excellence and growth."
