The Multistrada Phenomenon: Ducati's Jack of All Terrains
The Ducati Multistrada, Italian for 'Multi-road,' rightly stands as a prominent model in Ducati's portfolio. Designed to effortlessly tread diverse terrains while prioritizing safety and stability, this motorcycle has had an impressive journey, set to round up in 2023. Since the unveiling of the Multistrada 1000 DS, the series has undergone evolution across four generations, featuring the contemporary V2 and V4 Granturismo engines.
The term Multistrada is Italian for 'Multi-road,' and it perfectly defines a Ducati motorcycle model that holds a notable place in the brand's legacy. As the name suggests, the Ducati Multistrada is designed to conquer various terrains with ease while offering optimum safety and stability, lending it an exciting run, with the two-decade journey set to come full circle in 2023. Since its inaugural version, the Multistrada 1000 DS, the series has continually evolved over four generations, featuring the latest V2 and V4 Granturismo engines.
The Ducati Multistrada isn't just another model. It carries an impressive legacy of pioneering technological advancements and trailblazing innovations, which has shaped the world of motorcycles. Over the years, it has solidly established itself as a trusty companion for passionate motorcycle enthusiasts who yearn for exhilarating journeys and unique adventures.
Multistrada has been the launching pad of several groundbreaking innovations like the Riding Modes on the 2010 model, a feature now commonplace on a majority of top-middle range bikes. Most notably, the Multistrada V4, Ducati's technology spearhead launched in 2020, holds the accolade for being the first globally to feature front and rear radar technology.
This led to the implementation of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) systems, thus greatly enhancing rider comfort and safety. The same model is also equipped with the Phone Mirroring feature, allowing the dashboard to function as a colour map navigator while retaining critical ride information.
Of note, the Multistrada V4 is notable for minimal maintenance intervals; valve clearance checks occur every 60,000 km. All models within the series are sold with the exclusive "4Ever Ducati" warranty that covers 4 years with unlimited mile coverage.
To commemorate the 20th year of the Multistrada, Ducati has established the aptly titled "Multistrada 20th - Twenty Years of Evolutionary Exploration" exhibit within its museum. A poignant documentary accompanies the exhibit, retracing the motorcycle model's evolution and dynamic story via photographs and personal accounts across different versions.

But the Ducati Multistrada model's journey doesn't end here; it is slated for a starring role during the Ducati World Première 2024. Furthermore, as a mark of celebrating the Ducati Monster 30° Anniversario, Ducati plans to announce five more models, one every two weeks beginning September 19 until November 7, for its 2024 model lineup.
