Dubai Duty-Free Lucky Draw: Indians Get Lucky; Win Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 & BMW Bikes
The winners of the Dubai Duty-Free Draw were recently announced and a few Indian have won big in the lucky draw. Apart from the grand prize winner who walked away with one million dollars, there are a few who walked away with some exquisite Mercedes-AMG and BMW Motorrad machines as winners of the lucky draw.
The Dubai Duty-Free is one of the most well-known duty-free stores in the world. It is also one of the largest travel retail operators in the world with a sales turnover of more than $2.5 Billion every year. It was founded in 1983 and operates out of the Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport.
As a part of its branding and marketing initiatives, Dubai Duty-Free runs a lucky draw called the Millennium Millionaire where consumers buy lucky draw tickets and then the company hosts the draw. In the draw that was held recently, quite a few winners were announced.
The grand prize was a whopping One Million Dollars (Rs 7.83 Crore) and was won by 62-year-old John Varghese from Kerala, India. However, in this article, we're going to stick to the automotive prizes and as it turns out, some fancy wheels were won by a few people.
First and foremost is a Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 4MATIC. This exquisite four-door performance coupe was handed over to 40-year-old Thimmaiah Nanjappa in the lucky draw. It is one of the best sedans in the world and is powered by a 3.0-litre, Bi-Turbo V6 engine that puts out 429bhp and 520Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds and will go on to touch a top speed of 250km/h.
Two BMW Motorrad motorcycles were also won at the Dubai Duty-Free lucky draw. Jameil Fonseca, a 40-year-old Indian based in Dubai won a BMW R nineT motorcycle. This is a neo-retro motorcycle with lots of character and a brilliant flat-twin engine.
The other motorcycle up for grabs was clinched by Shaik Abid Hussain Ansari, who also happens to be an Indian national. The motorcycle in question is a BMW R 1250 R which is one of the most powerful roadsters in the world.
