Suspected Suffocation: Ghaziabad Driver Dies In Locked Car
A 36-year-old driver named Kallu Dubey was found dead inside his cab in Ghaziabad on Monday morning. Dubey, who lived in Sahibabad, had fallen asleep in his WagonR with the air conditioning on. When the car ran out of petrol, the AC and ignition shut off, leading to his suspected suffocation.
Despite the car being equipped with a CNG option, Dubey, who was intoxicated, did not switch to it. His employer, Amlesh Pandey, reported the incident to the police after Dubey failed to respond to repeated attempts to contact him. Pandey, who runs Priyanshi Tours and Travels, had been trying to reach Dubey since 7 am due to a booking.

Pandey, concerned about Dubey's lack of response, used the driver’s phone GPS to locate him. He found Dubey's car near a liquor shop, where he appeared to be sleeping. Despite several attempts to wake him by knocking on the glass window and calling him, Dubey did not respond. Pandey then contacted Dubey's family and the police.
After the police arrived, they broke the car window to access Dubey. They took him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. According to Pandey, Dubey had been working for him for three years and had recently returned to work after a trip to his hometown, Hamirpur.

Nimish Patil, DCP (trans-Hindon), revealed they received the information about Dubey's death around 10 am. Patil suspected that Dubey had consumed a significant amount of alcohol on Sunday night before falling asleep inside his cab.
When the car ran out of petrol, the AC shut off, and Dubey did not realize this due to intoxication. The closed windows likely led to his suffocation.
Dr. BP Tyagi, who runs Harsh Hospital, suggested that Dubey's death was likely due to carbon monoxide poisoning. He explained, "Once the AC turned off, the driver continued to inhale carbon monoxide.
With all the windows rolled up, oxygen supply was cut off. The carbon monoxide mixed with his blood, preventing oxygen from reaching his heart and brain. This is likely the cause of his death."
As of late Monday evening, no formal complaint had been lodged with the police. They are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras to understand the sequence of events. Footage shows the driver being removed from the car. Dubey's body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Pandey mentioned that Dubey’s wife had passed away eight years ago, leaving him with a six-year-old son. Dubey had recently returned from his hometown after his mother-in-law's passing in May. Additional details on the cause of death will be known after the autopsy reports are released.

DriveSpark Thinks
The tragic death of Kallu Dubey serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and sleeping in a closed car with the AC running. The combination of carbon monoxide poisoning from the car engine and a lack of oxygen due to closed windows proved fatal.
This incident highlights the importance of responsible driving habits and avoiding alcohol consumption before getting behind the wheel. Furthermore, a full autopsy report will shed more light on the exact cause of death, but the preliminary investigation suggests a preventable tragedy.
