Fancy Your Own Dragstrip? This One Is Up For Sale
Owning a racetrack is every gearhead's dream. A place to do whatever you want, whenever you want, for free. Well, then now is your chance to own one, in real life.
The Accelaquarter Raceway in Harrisburg, Illinois has come up for sale with a price tag of $1.2 million (Rs. 9 Crore).
The current owner of the dragstrip had completely re-surfaced the 200-meter strip. The facility also has 2000 feet high air-conditioned control tower, timing gears, a covered grandstand, restrooms and a large parking lot.
The track is well for the money. But all you have to worry about is the occasional flooding, though it hasn't occurred for a few years now.
It seems that the owner has been forced to sell due to the on-going health problems.
Hopefully, the strip will be bought by an enthusiast who keeps it as it is, and not by any property developer with a plan to construct apartments.
