Video: Dog Accidentally Puts Vehicle Into Reverse Gear; Drives Into Lake
Dog accidentally reverses vehicle into lake: A fishing trip turned into a nightmare and huge financial loss for a Eric Jackson in Texas, America. Jackson is a professional fisher and was at the lake in Texas for a fishing trip with his RV (Recreational Vehicle) and accompanying him was his two-year old dalmatian named Bondi.
As usual, Jackson reversed his RV down the platform just enough to lower his boat into the water and got out of the vehicle and into the boat, trying to unhitch it from the trailer. While this was happening Bondi jumped into the driver's seat to get a good view out of the large windscreen and accidentally stepped on the reverse button, engaging the reverse gear.
The RV started rolling backwards on the slope and Jackson immediately jumped out of the boat to stop the RV from rolling back. Before Jackson could reach the front of the vehicle, open the door and apply the brakes, the rear of the RV was already floating and the damage had been done.
Bondi meanwhile was sulking and scared but safe, under the front passenger's seat. There were several people on land with pickup trucks and tow ropes who immediately rushed to the rescue and pulled the RV out of the lake. The RV was out of the water in less than 10 minutes since the entire ordeal started.
By then, water had engulfed the rear end of the vehicles and the electrical system was done for. Water had also entered the transmission unit and hence the RV was unusable after the incident. The bystanders also videographed the whole incident and one of the videos even caught Bondi red-handed in the driver's seat.
What is surprising is the way Jackson handled the entire incident. Once the RV was out of the water, he got into the boat and fished the entire day, as he had to prepare for his competition.
Jackson is part of the US Kayaking team and is also taking part in the Fishing League Worldwide Tour, and hence had to practise for his upcoming round, which is why they were at the lake. Eric Jackson and his family would consider passing off the RV as scrap or getting fixed, depending on advice from insurance agencies.
Thoughts On Dog Accidentally Engaging Reverse Gear In RV
RVs are extremely popular in America and this is due to their ability to go almost everywhere while keeping its occupants in home-like comfort. Users often take their family, including pets and stay on the road for weeks together in comfort. However, instances like this raise safety issues.
If a dog can press a button accidentally and cause a loss of nearly $60,000, there is a huge safety risk as the RV can run over somebody if not careful. This is an incident in which no one was hurt, but could have easily been fatal.
