Die Hard 5: A Movie In Which 132 Cars Died Hard
The fifth installment in the Die Hard series - A Good Day To Die Hard - was released in theaters across the world yesterday. And as like any other Die Hard movie, the latest version is packed with action. Automobiles are an integral part of most action movies and Die Hard is not different. But did you know the movie took the lives of 132 cars!?
You read that right. 132 four wheelers were totally destroyed and what's more, all of this was done while shooting just one car chase sequence. The gallery below tells you how much it cost the producers and which four wheelers were sacrificed.

G-Class
The highlight of the chase scene is a G 63 AMG SUV, driven by Bruce Willis. The luxury SUV was launched in India the same day Die Hard was released. Several of these INR 1.46 crore SUVs were destroyed, but it did not cost the makers a dime since Merc donated it for the filming of the movie.

"Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence," said director John Moore

Zetros
It would be not be much fun with only a few cars. Upping the ante are a few heavy duty vehicle, also from Merc. Zetros being one of them.

"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," Moore adds. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic."

Unimog
This all wheel drive heavy duty truck's name stands for UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät (machine). A good machine to squash puny cars.

"There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again," says Director Johhn Moore. "Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there. ... That's the fun of it."

Sprinter
The last of the vehicles supplied by Mercedes, the Sprinter is a regular commercial vehicle.
