Delhi's transport department is taking significant steps to modernize the way traffic fines are paid, aiming to enhance convenience for citizens. The government has issued a tender to implement a system that allows violators to receive e-challans directly through WhatsApp.
This new initiative will streamline the process of paying fines by including a direct payment link within the messages. As a result, individuals will find it much easier to resolve their traffic violations without the hassle of navigating through multiple platforms.
The existing system for managing traffic fines in Delhi relies on the Parivahan e-challan website. However, the introduction of the WhatsApp-based method is set to simplify thevwhole process.
With this advancement, users will benefit from instant notifications regarding any new or pending fines, delivered directly to their WhatsApp.
Delhi's WhatsApp Challan System: How It Works
Every day, around 1,000 to 1,500 e-challans are issued for traffic violations in Delhi. Once the new system is operational, violators will get a WhatsApp message detailing their offense and fine amount. A link for immediate payment via UPI platforms like Google Pay or BHIM will also be included.
This system aims to send messages in both Hindi and English to cater to a wider audience. It will streamline notifications from initial fine notices to reminders and payment confirmations. The framework supports various media formats such as images and PDFs to enhance transparency.
