Delhi To Launch Special Drive Against Unapproved e-Rickshaws
The
Delhi
Transport
Department
has
decided
to
launch
a
special
drive
against
"illegal
dealers" selling
unapproved
e-rickshaws
in
the
National
capital.
The unapproved e-rickshaws sold by unauthorised dealers are a potential threat to life of commuters as well as road users in the national capital.
The decision was made after an e-rickshaw association representative raised the issue in a meeting with Transport minister Gopal Rai.
"All Motor Licensing Officers have been directed to launch a special drive against the unauthorised dealers selling e-rickshaws and file complaints with Delhi Police by lodging FIR against them," said, a government official.
Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had formerly announced a subsidy scheme for e-rickshaws under which the government would provide Rs 30,000 to drivers as financial assistance for retrofitting them into e-rickshaws and registration of the vehicles.
