Delhi Police Reintroduces Traffic Prahari App To Encourage Reporting Of Traffic Violations
The number of vehicles on the roads is increasing daily, leading to a rise in traffic violations. This has become a significant challenge for the police. Despite various measures, such as stopping violators on the streets and using CCTV footage, traffic violations continue to rise.
Reports indicate that the Delhi Police are launching a unique initiative to address this issue. They plan to re-launch their special app, "Traffic Prahari," on September 1. This app allows drivers to report traffic violations committed by other drivers.

The Delhi Police will verify complaints received through the app and take immediate action. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, has ordered the Delhi Traffic Police to restart this mobile app operation. The police hope this initiative will reduce traffic violations significantly.
Citizens who register complaints through the app will be rewarded. The rewards range from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000, depending on the number of valid complaints reported. The highest reward of Rs. 50,000 will go to the person who reports the most violations.
To use the "Traffic Prahari" app, users must download it on their mobile phones and register their mobile numbers. After logging in, they can report traffic violations by uploading photos or videos as evidence. They must provide details like date, time, location, and vehicle registration number when filing complaints.
If there are any minor errors in the complaint details, the police have the authority to reject it. Therefore, it is crucial for users to provide accurate information when reporting violations.

Expected Impact
The public is expected to be eager to report traffic violators due to the rewards offered. This initiative is anticipated to decrease traffic violations and reduce accidents caused by such violations. Delhi has the highest number of road accidents among India's major cities, making this initiative particularly important.
Additionally, it is expected that the police will use this app to create awareness about traffic safety among citizens. By encouraging accurate reporting and rewarding citizens for their efforts, this initiative aims to make Delhi's roads safer for everyone.
This new approach by the Delhi Police could significantly reduce traffic violations if implemented effectively. Accurate reporting by citizens and prompt action by the police are key factors in its success.
