Delhi-Meerut RRTS RapidX Trains Complete Successful Speed Trials - Efficiency At Its Best
The RapidX trains are currently undergoing speed test trials at 160 km/h on a 17km priority stretch between Sahibabad and Duhai depot. These trains can complete the distance in only 12 minutes.
The vacant trains are operating between 6 am and 11 pm, with a gap of 15 minutes, to identify any technical problems. Passenger services on this route are anticipated to commence in the near future.

The RAPIDX semi high-speed regional railway service is a collaborative effort between the central government and the state governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The goal of this joint venture is to establish an efficient and modern railway network that enhances connectivity and reduces travel time.
The Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail, also known as the RRTS project, is set to become India's inaugural high-speed rail transit corridor. This initiative is expected to be fully functional by the year 2025.
When the entire 82 km stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is finished, it will only take approximately 60 minutes to travel the entire distance. The trains will be made available in a gap of 5-10 minutes.

The first segment, which is 17 km long, will include five stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot. The coaches for the RRTS have been designed to have a streamlined appearance and can reach a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
The Duhai depot will serve as the central hub for managing all the operational functions of the RapidX services. After implementing the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, the upcoming RapidX routes will include Delhi-Gurgaon-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat corridors.
The initial project will be developed in three-phases. The first phase will commence from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and extend to SNB Urban Complex, covering a span of 107 km. The second phase will involve extending the line from SNB to Sotanala, encompassing a distance of 33.3 km.
The third phase envisions the SNB-Alwar extension, spanning a distance of 58 km. Concerning the Delhi-Panipat corridor, the RapidX trains aim to enhance accessibility between Delhi and towns like Murthal, Gannaur, Samalkha, and Panipat in Haryana.
However, the government has not yet revealed the exact date when the operations will commence between Sahibabad and Duhai depot. Anticipate an announcement within the next few weeks.
Thoughts On RapidX Trains
The introduction of high-speed regional rail services like RapidX can potentially reduce travel time between cities, providing commuters with faster and more convenient transportation options. It's noteworthy that the focus on speed tests and technical evaluations before customer services begin showcases a commitment to ensuring safety and reliability.
