Delhi To Invest Rs 15,000 Crore In EV Adoption: Policy 2.0 Targets 95% EVs By 2027
The Delhi Government is planning to invest around Rs 15,000 crore to reduce vehicle pollution and strengthen the EV ecosystem in the NCR region. Under the new Delhi EV Policy 2.0, the scheme will come into effect from July 1, 2026, and remain valid until March 31, 2030.
The world is steadily moving towards green mobility to reduce pollution and dependence on fossil fuels. Several cities across the globe have already implemented strong green policies to curb vehicle emissions and accelerate EV adoption. India's national capital, being one of the most pollution-affected cities in the world, has now taken another major step towards cleaner mobility.
Delhi EV Policy 2.0 To Commence This July 2026

The Delhi Government will implement the new EV Policy 2.0 with an investment of around Rs 15,000 crore aimed at building EV infrastructure, boosting EV sales, reducing ICE vehicle adoption, and helping consumers shift to cleaner alternatives.
The Delhi Cabinet has approved the new policy, targeting 95 percent of all new vehicle registrations to be electric by 2027. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the policy has been introduced to accelerate electric mobility, with a strong focus on shifting the transport sector away from conventional fuel-powered vehicles.
Under the new rules, all newly registered auto-rickshaws from January 1, 2027, will have to be electric. A similar rule could also be extended to two-wheelers from April 1, 2028. Consumers owning BS4 vehicles can switch to electric vehicles and may become eligible for incentives of up to Rs 1 lakh.

For electric two-wheelers, the government will offer a subsidy of Rs 30,000, while electric three-wheelers can receive up to Rs 50,000 during the first year. Those purchasing electric cars priced above Rs 30 lakh will also get a waiver on road tax and registration fees. For electric trucks, the purchase incentive can go up to Rs 1 lakh.
The policy will further expand charging infrastructure, vehicle scrapping facilities, and a dedicated online portal for EV-related incentives. Through this move, the Delhi Government aims to make the national capital significantly cleaner and less dependent on polluting vehicles by 2030.
