Crashed Ferrari Dino Sold As Art For $250,000

The annual Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain (FIAC) that takes place in Paris is an art exhibition of strange articles. We are not talking about paintings that make no sense, but stranger things. For example, a strange looking cake or a strangely shaped hole in the wall or even a person lying on the ground. Welcome to the world of modern art.

At this year edition of FIAC a Ferrari was purchased for €181,185. Only thing is, the Ferrari, a Dino 308 GT4 was damaged beyond repair. Crashed and crushed as you can see in the image below.

We give up. ‘Modern Art' has always been beyond our comprehensive abilities, but this. This is ridiculousness of an entirely different level. It seems, the crashed Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 comes under a form of modern art called "ready-made" art.

The ‘artist' behind the crashed Ferrari is sculptor Bertrand Lavier and the only effort required from his end in creating this "ready-made" art was to crash the car by accident.

The Yvon Lambert art dealer received €181,185 or $250,000 for the crashed Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 from an unnamed Turkish collector. What's even stranger and makes absolutely no sense is why would anyone pay €181,185 for a destroyed Ferrari Dino when the same car in working condition is available in the used car market for as low as €30,000. Why not buy one of that and then crash it to turn it into 'art'.

Ferrari made the Dino 308 GT4 between 1973 and 1980 and the car wasn't even a particularly popular model. These cars came with 3.0-liter V8 engines generating 252 HP.
