Continental's Commitment To Tyre Safety: Expanded TPMS Line In Bangalore
Continental has inaugurated an expanded Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) production line at its Bangalore plant, in response to increasing market demand in India.
The new line has a capacity of 3.3 million wheel units per year and is part of the company's growth plans for the near future. The state-of-the-art TPMS line features fully automated processes with minimal manual intervention, supporting local OEMs and targeting export markets, primarily Korea.
Meeting Growing Demand for Advanced Safety Technologies
Ramnath Sivaraman, Head of Motion Technologies and Services at Continental Automotive India, said that the expansion of the existing TPMS line reflects Continental's commitment to meeting the rising demand for advanced and affordable safety technologies.
He added that the launch of the second-generation TPMS would contribute to cleaner mobility and further advance vehicle safety by ensuring optimal tyre pressure.

Improved Accuracy and Efficiency
The second-generation TPMS offers more accurate measurements of tyre pressure, temperature, and motion from inside the tyre. This information is transmitted via radio frequency and the vehicle communication network to be displayed in the instrument cluster.
Precise and timely information about tyre conditions is crucial for maintaining optimal air pressure, which ensures vehicle safety and improves efficiency. The new TPMS line will initially assemble wheel units locally, with plans to localise child parts in the second phase.
Smart Manufacturing at Continental's Bangalore Plant
Continental's Bangalore plant stands out as the company's biggest electronics manufacturing hub in India, showcasing cutting-edge smart factory technologies.
From Cobots and augmented reality to artificial intelligence and automated replenishment systems, the plant utilizes state-of-the-art tools like automated optical inspection and big data applications for optimal efficiency and transparency. These advanced manufacturing techniques give Continental a competitive edge, allowing for swift localization and expedited product launches.

In conclusion, Continental's expansion of its TPMS production line in Bangalore demonstrates its commitment to meeting growing market demand for advanced safety technologies in India while also targeting export markets. The new line will contribute to cleaner mobility and improved vehicle safety by ensuring optimal tyre pressure management.
