Chinese Drivers Avoid Cops With 'Seat Belt' Tshirt

It is mandatory for both car drivers and the front passengers to wear seat belts in most countries, including China. But it seems lazy Chinese drivers would rather take the trouble to find a way to avoid wearing seat belts, than simply buckle in, which could save their lives.

A country where not wearing seat belts is the third leading cause of deaths due to road accidents, people have found a simple, but effective way not just to avoid wearing seat belts, but also to avoid the eyes of enforcement authorities.

Seatbelt T-Shirts

Numerous online websites in China have been openly selling t-shirts that have a black diagonal band running across the front. This, from far, can fool one into thinking the person is actually wearing a seat belt.

The popularity of these t-shirts is evident from the comments left behind by people, some of which say, "this is useful!" and "I wish I would have known about this earlier!"

The police are obviously not amused, but have not yet taken action against those selling these merchandise. Instead, they are trying their best to persuade people into following the rules through public interest announcements and notices.

A trend such as this certainly not something that should be encouraged, and we hope these lazy drivers heed to the police warnings. After all, life is not something to be taken lightly.
