Chandrayaan 3 To Land On Moon On This Date – Here’s Everything You Should Know
Earlier, India successfully launched the Chandrayaan 3 Spacecraft into space as part of its third lunar mission. The spacecraft successfully lifted off on July 14, at 2.35 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
Now, more than a month later, the Chandrayaan 3 has moved closer to the Moon. In fact, the closest point to the Moon from the Chandrayaan 3 is just 25 kilometres far.

According to ISRO, the module will undergo internal checks and wait for sunrise before moving forward with the proceedings for the soft landing in the south polar region of the Moon. If successful, India will be the fourth nation after Russia, US, and China to achieve this feat.
It has also been informed that the propulsion module will continue to orbit the Moon even after the lander's touchdown. This is done in order to study the atmosphere of the Earth.
That being said, the Chandrayaan 3 is set to write history on August 23 at around 06:04 pm (IST). Moreover, the live coverage of the progress will be broadcasted on multiple platforms including DD National TV channel, ISRO website, ISRO Facebook page and YouTube.
It is also worth mentioning that the live broadcast will be starting at around 05:27 pm - Allowing people to witness each step and proceedings before achieving the monumental feat of soft landing the probe on the moon.
Speaking about the Chandrayaan 3, it is the country's second attempt at landing a spacecraft on the surface of the Moon. To achieve this, the Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft was lifted off from an LVM3 rocket and this rocket propelled the spacecraft up to an altitude of 179.192 kilometres.
Moreover, this distance was covered in just over 16 minutes, and the maximum thrust achieved is said to be more than 36,000km/hr. Thanks to this meticulous planning, the Chardrayaan 3 is expected to land on August 23 itself.
Thoughts: The successful soft-landing of the Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft on the surface of the Moon will make India one of just four countries to achieve this remarkable feat - A truly historic moment for India.
