High-Octane Drama: CEAT ISRL Auction Sees International Racers Sweep the Bids

The CEAT Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL) recently accomplished a landmark event in the history of motorsports by hosting the world's initial franchise-based Supercross league. The league's Mega Rider Auction was held at the JW Marriott in Pune, heralding an important chapter in the ISRL's narrative.

With a total of 104 racers, including an impressive cohort of 73 international competitors and 31 Indian contenders, the stage was set for a gripping auction. The auction reflected a strategic approach, allowing each team to enlist up to two riders per category within the 48 slots available, and the collective auction purse for the inaugural season soared to a striking INR 6 Cr, demonstrating the league's dedication to fostering a culture of excellence.

Rising Talents and Record Bids

The 85 cc junior class auction was a highlight of the event, where Bhairav C Gowda's extraordinary abilities earned him the highest bid, signifying his potential in the sport. In the robust 450 cc international segment, Thomas Ramette clinched the highest bid.

The auction also saw a progressive trend with female participants Aleena Mansur Shaikh and Nithila Das from the 85cc junior class being picked by teams, a positive sign for gender diversity in Supercross. The auction narratives were further enriched by Indian riders Ikshan Shanbhag and Shlok Ghorpade, who drew the highest bids among their compatriots.

Notably, Nathan Alexander Gunawardena of Sri Lanka secured the highest overall bid in the 250cc India-Asia Mix category, setting a precedent for Season One.
