Cautio Raises INR 6.5 Cr In Funding For Road Safety Telematics Innovations

Cautio, a visual telematics startup, has secured INR 6.5 cr in pre-seed funding from investors including Antler, 8i Ventures, and AU Small Finance Bank. The company was founded by Ankit Acharya and Pranjal Nadhani, who have backgrounds in mobility and engineering respectively.

Cautio offers cost-effective video telematics products designed to address safety concerns in India's transportation sector. Its solutions include customizable dash cam devices and an AI-powered operating system that aims to improve driver behaviour, reduce revenue loss, and ensure accountability.

India has seen rapid advancements in telematics technology, moving from GPS and Bluetooth to embedded connectivity. The focus has shifted from passive road safety measures to active real-time responsiveness due to high accident rates.

In 2022, India recorded 1,68,491 road fatalities, with overspeeding accounting for 70% of these deaths and approximately 4.4 lakh injuries. Video telematics and dash cams are expected to play a crucial role in enhancing road safety, particularly in the commercial vehicle sector.

Cautio Secures Funding for Safety Tech

Support from investors

Nitin Sharma, Partner at Antler, expressed excitement about backing the founders of Cautio and praised their ability to integrate cutting-edge technology into accessible solutions. He also highlighted the team's customer obsession and adaptability during the Antler Residency program.

Vishwanath V, General Partner at 8i Ventures, noted that Cautio's solution could lead to mass adoption of video telematics for increased safety and accountability on roads.

AU Small Finance Bank's Ranjan Agarawal also expressed support for Cautio's mission to enhance safety and efficiency across various sectors through technology. He believes that the company's impressive client lineup and ongoing pilot projects nationwide are just the beginning of its potential achievements.

Increasing adoption of dash cams

As India moves towards implementing active surveillance in mass transportation, states such as Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka are endorsing the need for in-vehicle monitoring systems. The growing use of dash cams in Bengaluru is further evidence of technology's role in improving road safety measures.

Cautio's commitment to safety has garnered interest from cab, auto, and fleet owners as well as drivers. This support underscores the importance of proactive safety measures within transportation networks.
