Famous Automobiles From The World Of Cartoons
The only exposure to the world of automobiles - outside the ones we saw on the road - most of us had in our childhood was through cartoons. While kids today learn about the latest supercars through the internet, we as kids were familiar with a different sort of famous automobiles, those which featured in our favourite cartoon series.
So, we thought, why not relive our childhood days by taking a look back at some of the automobiles from some of the most well known cartoon series. Automobiles, which have now gained iconic status and are still recognized by millions if not billions of people around the world.
Lets begin with a well know automobile and arguably the most widely recognized automobile associated with a cartoon character - the Batmobile. While the Batmobile has come in a dozen different designs over the years, this classic Batmobile is from the 1960s television series.

A real life replica recently went for an astonishing $4.2 million at an auction.

Donald Duck, our beloved duck from Disney's universe, owns a red ride with a ‘313' license plate (March 13 is Donald Duck's birthday).

A real life replica actually exists, but we are not sure if we can drive it down the road. Looks just as cute as the one from the cartoons though.

Using a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor limo a real life replica was built by Universal Studios.

The original sports car from the world of cartoons, Mach 5 was driven by Speed Racer, an extremely talented racer. Not only is the car super fast, it is also equipped with several gadgets. This car has inspired many a kid from that era.

A real life Mach 5 was built by Mark Towle, a custom car builder. It is the only real life replica of the Mach 5 and it even packs some of the gadgets from the cartoon.

Lightning McQueen is the star from the Pixar animated movie, Cars and Cars 2. Lightning McQueen, a talented, but arrogant race car, manages to mend his ways and emerges victorious at the end.

Lightning McQueen's design is slightly inspired by America's favourite sports car, the Chevy Corvette Z1. Several real life replicas of McQueen exists, which are used during promotional events and as show cars for children.

Tow Mater aka Mater is a tow truck and Lightning McQueen's best buddy. Not a very bright car, Mater provides comic relief in the movies.

Like most vehicles from the movie Cars, several officially made replicas of Mater exist.

Optimus Prime, the leader of Autobots, is the truck and the truck is Optimus Prime. Due to the fact the truck transforms into an alien robot and vice versa it is very popular as a toy as well.

This real life truck features the exact paint job as the Optimus Prime the truck. It even features an alarm system voiced like Optimus Prime from the tv series. The look is topped off by the Autobots logo at the front.

Flintstones, the famous family from an alternate stone age, where cars are powered by legs and have huge stone rollers for wheels. This distinct looking car is is unmistakable and can be counted amongst the most popular automobile from cartoons.

Here is a real life replica, with some added lighting.

From Flintstones to Scooby-Doo and from a stone wheeled car to the famous The Mystery Machine. Instantly recognized by the fluorescent green and faded blue paint job, with orange flower stickers, The Mystery Machine delivers Scooby and his gang to the crime scene on time.

A few vans were painted by Lou and Steve Raguse, which look like they were taken straight from the cartoons.

The Party Wagon is sometimes a combat van, employed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. As expected from combat vans, the Ninja Turtle Van is equipped with several gadgets to help the Turtles during crime fighting.

We'll end this list with another famous family car, this time from the future. The flying cars of the future, which are the only sort of cars that exist in the Jetsons universe.

Due to obvious reasons, a real life replica of a Jetsons car has never been made. That does not mean it will not be. The Terrafugia TF-X concept, confirmed for production in the next decade or so, is our best bet.
