The infamous Bellandur lake is back in the news and this time, a woman on her way to work lost control of her car and landed in the lake.
Rithi Singh, a 30 year old was on her way to work on Friday morning when this mishap happened. Rithi claims that she was travelling at 35km/h, when her car lost control around a sharp corner and ended up in the lake.
Lucky for her, locals who saw the tragic event happen, immediately jumped into the lake and pulled her away to safety. The car was floating and the windows were rolled up when she was saved. Rithi escaped with minor injuries.
Ganesh Rao, a traffic official said, "We reached the spot within a few minutes and rescued Singh from the water. Also, a crane was called to pull out the car."
Rithi's husband, told Bangalore Mirror: "The authorities should take up an initiative to ensure that fencing and the roads are properly maintained so that no such incident takes place again. I am grateful that the locals jumped into water and saved my wife. I would also like to thank the police who reached out as soon as possible, and rushed my wife to the hospital." He also said that lack of fencing and the narrow roads were to be blamed.
