Captain Nemo's Six-Wheeled Car To Be Auctioned!
Yes, Captain Nemo's six wheeled car that was featured in the movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is to be auctioned.
The car will be sold by international auctioneers Coys at their Blenheim Palace auction, which is to be held on the 11th of July.
Being only one of two made, this car was designed by production designer and art director Carol Spier. This is a fully functional and complete vehicle.
The vehicle originally started life as a Land Rover fire tender, adapted with a steel frame and the addition of a Rover V8 engine. The chassis is covered in ivory coloured fibreglass shell and inspiration for the decoration was taken from the Hindu god Ganesha and assorted flora and fauna.
The interior features faux leather and even has the original Land Rover dials.
The car retains most of its original functionality and shows a few wear and tear signs from running repairs from on-set use.
Although the car is not for legal use on UK road, the car is estimated at £18,000 to £25,000.
