Bridgestone India Engages Employees In An Impactful Sustainability Campaign
Bridgestone India, a subsidiary of Japan's Bridgestone Corporation, recently held a three-day sustainability campaign at its manufacturing sites in Pune and Indore. The initiative aimed to engage employees and local communities in the company's commitment to sustainability.
As part of the Bridgestone 3.0 Journey, the firm is working towards integrating sustainability into its core business operations and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

World Yoga Day and Sustainability Awareness
The campaign included World Yoga Day celebrations, with 168 employees participating in yoga sessions at both plant locations.
Additionally, Mr. S.J.R Kutty, Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at TATA Motors, conducted a session on sustainability awareness, emphasizing the need for OEMs and the automotive supply chain to commit to a sustainable future.

Employee Engagement and Waste Management
Employees were encouraged to share ideas on incorporating sustainability into their daily lives, with the best suggestions receiving awards.
Waste management was also highlighted as a key aspect of sustainability; employees donated old clothes for recycling into bags made by women beneficiaries of Bridgestone's Swayamsidhha project. Local communities joined in a clean-up and sanitation drive around the manufacturing sites.

Carbon Neutrality and Environmental Initiatives
Bridgestone's Pune facility has been verified as a carbon-neutral unit for 2022, having reduced its carbon footprint by 94% through measures such as solar power generation and biomass-based boiler plants.
Moreover, Bridgestone India has planted over 3,500 saplings at its Indore and Pune locations, which also host Butterfly Gardens with diverse species.
In conclusion, Bridgestone India's sustainability campaign demonstrates the company's dedication to environmental responsibility and stakeholder engagement. By actively involving employees and local communities in these efforts, the firm aims to create lasting positive change towards a more sustainable future.
Bridgestone's commitment to sustainability extends beyond its manufacturing sites. The company has developed a comprehensive strategy called "Enliten" that focuses on creating lighter, more fuel-efficient tires.
By implementing a multi-pronged approach that tackles sustainability within its operations, product development, and customer education, Bridgestone India is taking significant strides towards a greener future for the automotive industry.
