Brembo Formula 1 Braking System Explained
Brembo is an Italian company that's the world's leading manufacturer of braking systems for vehicles. World's leading car manufacturers, and even MotoGP and Formula 1 teams depend on Brembo's braking systems, which should tell you about their capability.
In a new video released by Brembo, it explains how its Formula 1 baking system works. While the basic principle is the same - driver steps on the pedal and the brake pads press against the brake discs to slow down or bring the vehicle to a stop - the ones used in F1 cars need to be lot more robust to handle the incredible mechanical stress and heat generated due to friction.
Then there is the kinetic energy recovery system or ERS-K, which harnesses power from deceleration and contributes towards slowing down the car as well, which has allowed brake calipers to become smaller.
Watch the video below which explains how the entire system works and more through visualization.
