Brabus XLP 900 6x6 Superblack & XLP 800 6x6 Adventure Are The Gelandewagens Of Our Dreams

German tuning firm Brabus has revealed the XLP 900 6x6 Superblack and XLP 800 6x6 Adventure at its Signature Night 2023 event yesterday.

With AMG showing no signs of reviving the 6x6 versions of the G Wagen, the only option for getting a six-wheeled Gelandewagen are Brabus' two new creations.

The two new Brabus XLP 6x6 models are based on the Mercedes-AMG G63 and add an extra axle and a truckbed at the rear, along with truly frightening amounts of power and torque to the top-spec G-Class SUV.

Let's take a look at the Brabus 900 XLP 6x6 Superblack. Well, the bigger of the two new models sports a 4,407cc V8 engine. Brabus expanded the AMG 4.0-litre V8 engine and also added brand new twin-turbochargers along with milled connecting rods, forged pistons and downpipes.

The engine has also been tuned so that it now produces 888bhp at 6,200rpm and 1,250Nm of peak torque at just 2,900rpm. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

All these changes allow the Brabus 900 XLP 6x6 to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds and onward to a top speed of 210km/h.

To ensure that everyone hears the 900 XLP 6x6 Superblack, the six-wheeled behemoth has been fitted with valve-controlled exhaust with two sides exiting 76mm tailpipes. The engine setup also features a blow-off valve adapter.

The oversized pickup truck features titanium-coated aluminium suspension parts along with portal axles at the front and the rear. These, along with the large 22-inch wheels and the 325/55 section Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres, give the 900 XLP 6x6 Superblack a ground clearance of 473mm.

The Brabus 900 XLP 6x6 Superblack is 6,183mm long, 2,192mm wide and 2,293mm tall. The pickup truck weihs 4,500 kilogrammes.

The 900 XLP 6x6 Superblack sports the Brabus Widestar widebody kit along with the firm's Powerview hood, which allows a glimpse at the larger 4.5-litre V8. Also fitted are a host of carbon fibre parts, including the wind deflector and underride guard, among others.

Also present are a host of external lights, a black paint scheme which is mirrored by the interior, which is draped in leather, Alcantara and quite a few bits of carbon fibre.

The Brabus 800 XLP 6x6 Adventure, on the other hand, does not expand the engine to its larger size, instead opting to replace the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged AMG V8's two turbos.

The new turbos and a tune ensure that the engine produces 788.5bhp and can travel over practically an obstacle around, thanks to its portal axle setup and 22-inch wheels.

The interiors feature embossed '77' signets signifying the year Brabus started up - 1977. All the highlights on the interior are finished in Brabus' distinct Rocket Red colour.
