Brabus XL 800 Unveiled - Portal Axels & 789bhp
German tuning house Brabus are at it again. The Bottrop, Germany-based firm best known for making fast AMGs into outrageously powerful modified maniacs has gotten its hands on the latest G 63 AMG and turned the volume dial up to 11 to create the Brabus XL 800, a go-faster, go-anywhere SUV that towers over every other car around.
The Brabus XL 800 marries the rugged allure of off-roaders with a bootload of power to make a supercar blush. Originating from the W 465 series Mercedes-AMG G 63, this ultra-luxury vehicle commands attention with its towering presence, courtesy of a 47-centimeter (18.5-inch) ground clearance enabled by a custom Brabus suspension system and portal axles.

The vehicle's design embodies adventure, with wide fender flares and a front fascia made of exposed-structure carbon fiber. This includes an integrated winch capable of pulling up to 4,500 kg (9,921 lbs.), and the Brabus front guard, enhancing off-road capabilities. The carbon elements continue across the vehicle, with the carbon surround for the radiator grille, power dome hood, and wind deflector above the windshield, all contributing to the Brabus XL 800's distinctive aesthetic. The interior and exterior design elements work in tandem to ensure both an imposing appearance and superior functionality on any terrain.
Intersecting Luxury with Performance
Performance-wise, the Brabus XL 800 doesn't just look the part; it plays it exceptionally well, thanks to its Brabus 800 four-liter, twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine which delivers 588 kW / 800 hp at 6,600 rpm and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft). This powerhouse is enhanced with high-performance turbochargers and high-tech lubricants from Motul, achieving remarkable speeds with an electronically limited top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph). The vehicle's sound management system allows for a subtle "Coming Home" mode or a robust exhaust note in "Sport" mode, adding an auditory dimension to its impressive performance.

To navigate challenging terrains, the Brabus XL 800 is equipped with a special portal axle suspension system, providing exceptional ground clearance and axle articulation. This system includes a new independent suspension for the front axle and numerous redesigned components for the rear, all aimed at maximizing the vehicle's off-road potential. Additionally, the Brabus Ride Control coilover suspension, tailored for this vehicle, ensures a comfortable ride across various landscapes. The suspension setup is complemented by Brabus Monoblock Z/HD high-end wheels, blending performance with style.
Inside the Masterpiece: Elegance and Technology
The interior of the Brabus XL 800 is nothing short of a masterpiece, showcasing a slate gray leather finish with "Double Cube" quilting on the seats, door panels, and floor mats. This design is not only visually captivating but also functional, with perforations for optimal seat climate control. Carbon elements and aluminum door lock pins enhance the high-performance atmosphere, while the scuff plates with a backlit Brabus logo and carbon sun visors add sophisticated touches. The vehicle also includes an overhead instrument console for rear passengers, displaying speed, time, and date, ensuring that luxury and utility are in perfect harmony.

The Brabus XL 800 stands as a testament to the seamless blend of off-road ruggedness and supercar luxury. With its powerful performance, distinctive design, and meticulously crafted interior, it offers an unparalleled driving experience. This vehicle not only redefines the standards for luxury off-roaders but also confirms BRABUS's position as a leader in automotive innovation and craftsmanship. Whether conquering uncharted terrains or cruising the world’s most lavish boulevards, the Brabus XL 800 invites its occupants to explore life from a vantage point that few can claim to know.
