German tuner Brabus has revealed the 1300R Edition 23. The Brabus 1300 R Edition 23 is the firm's take on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R and it takes the super naked bike down a darker path of brutal performance.

The Brabus 1300 R is offered up to its supplicants in two colour options - "Superblack" and "Stealth Gray" - two legacy colourways that have been found on the German tuner's tuned supercars of the past. Both colours are limited to just 145 units.

So what exactly do the owners of these 290 Brabus 1300 R get? Well, these beasts of the night get quite a few cosmetic changes that make KTM's beastly flagship into a mean machine of the night.

Well, the most visible change can be seen at the front of the limited-run motorcycle from Brabus in the form of the new headlight. The round unit is reminiscent of the ones found on the most mental Brabus versions of the Mercedes G-Wagen - the 900 Rocket Edition and the 900 XLP. The headlight is surrounded by an aerodynamic mask that features carbon-fibre bits.

Other than the unique headlight mask, Brabus has added quite a bit of pre-preg Carbon fibre parts to the 1300 R Edition 23 including the side fairing, air scoop (that also sports the iconic Brabus power domes), belly pan and the undertray.

The Brabus 1300 R Edition 23 also features CNC-machined aluminium footpegs with a carbon fibre heel guard that allows for 12-position adjustability. Other CNC machined aluminium parts include the triple clamp for the front forks, the adjustable brake and clutch levers, and the reservoirs and oil tank caps made from billet aluminium.

Other changes on the special Brabus bike compared to the Super Duke include the handlebar-end circular mirrors, heated grips and seat, the forged Monoblock Z wheels and the slip-on double-pipe exhaust which lets the 1300 R Edition 23 roar its displeasure at the world around it.

The other mechanical bits have all remained the same as the 1290 Super Duke R including the 1,301cc, liquid-cooled, V-Twin engine that pushes out 177bhp at 9,500rpm and 140Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission with a quickshifter and slipper clutch for faster and smoother shifts.

Suspension duties are carried out by a semi-active WP Apex setup with a 48mm upside-down fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The 17-inch Brabus 9-spoke forged Monoblock Z wheels are shod with Bridgestone S22 Battlax tyres - 120/70 ZR 17 (front) and 200/55 ZR 17 (rear).

Braking duties are carried out by a large Brembo setup with a 320mm disc at the front (with 4-piston callipers) and a 240mm disc at the rear (clamped by twin-piston callipers) that are aided by cornering ABS and Supermoto ABS setups.

Thoughts About The Brabus 1300 R Edition 23

The Brabus 1300 R Edition 23 is what happens when you let the manic German tuner best known for its mental modified Mercs take KTM's 1290 Super Duke R down the path of darkness. The 1300 R Edition 23 from Brabus is mean and dark and that's why Brabus fans looking for a superbike will gobble up the limited order books for it.
