The scheme has been approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is funded through the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. It will be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).

Focus On Cleaner Mobility

Speaking about the development, Rajiv Chaturvedi, President and Chief Business Officer of DICV, said, "The Government of India's vehicle replacement scheme is a significant step towards accelerating fleet modernization and reducing vehicular emissions in the Delhi-NCR region."

He added "We are pleased to support this scheme and contribute to the transition towards cleaner, safer, and more efficient transportation. Through BharatBenz's range of BS-VI commercial vehicles, we look forward to helping customers upgrade their fleets while enhancing productivity, fuel efficiency, and operational performance,"

Under the scheme, BharatBenz will offer an 8 per cent discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible trucks and buses purchased under this program. The initiative is expected to cover nearly 2.07 lakh commercial vehicles across Delhi-NCR, including around 1.91 lakh trucks and more than 16,329 buses.

This move is aimed at accelerating fleet modernisation, reducing vehicular emissions, and encouraging the adoption of cleaner commercial vehicles in the region. Delhi has become one of the most affected cities due to air pollution, which lead to lower air quality index.

Benefits For Fleet Owners

The scheme is applicable to BS-IV and older commercial vehicles registered in Delhi-NCR. Eligible vehicle owners can replace their existing vehicles with new BS-VI compliant trucks and buses, cleaner fuel variants, or even electric commercial vehicles depending on the scheme guidelines.

In addition to the OEM discount, customers will also receive several benefits from both Central and State Governments, including interest subvention on vehicle loans, fuel vouchers, registration fee waivers, and motor vehicle tax concessions.
