BelAZ 75710: World’s Largest Truck From Belarus

With a load carrying capacity of 450 tons this truck could carry your house in its cargo bay. This is BelAZ 75710, a mining truck and the largest truck of any kind in the world.

This mining truck was unveiled earlier in October 2013, but production will commence only by 2015 and hence an official Guinness Record has not been set. Nevertheless, the company that has manufactured the truck are confident it will bag the title with ease.

The BelAZ 75710 mining truck is currently being tested in a Siberian mine before it will be commissioned for active duty in some of the largest mines around the world. Below are some facts and a video of the truck.

BelAZ 75710 has a carrying capacity of 450 tons and has an overall weight of 810 tons.

The truck has eight specially made wheels, each of which measure about three times the height of an average human being.

BelAZ 75710 itself measures over 26 feet tall and 67 feet long.

To give a measure of the truck's hauling capacity the Belarusian company which built it says it can carry 2.5 Boeing passenger jets in the back.

The power to operate this behemoth comes from not one, but two 16 cylinder four stroke MTU turbocharged diesel engine, which output a total 4,600 HP of power and an insane 18,626 Nm of torque.

Inspite of its size and weight the 64 km/h BelAZ 75710 is said to be capable of a top speed of 64 km/h. Travelling on an inclination of 10 degrees the truck can still manage a speed of 40 km/h.

The truck has a turning radius of 20 meters, which is said to be impressive.

Transferring the power developed by the engine to the wheels is not easy task when a truck is this big and the BelAZ 75710 has an array of electro mechanical gears doing the job. These include AC electric drive Siemens MMT500 electromechanical transmission, with two traction alternators, four traction electric motors and motor wheel reduction gears, auxiliary electric machines, adjustment, and other control devices.

BelAZ 75710 is currently being field-tested at the Bachatsky open pit coal mine in Siberia. Production will commence from 2015.
