Futuristic Looking Handcrafted Bamboo Concept Car
Handcrafted cars built from organic materials are certainly not new. While such vehicles are without doubt safe for the environment, recyclable and all other things green, they tend to score poorly in terms of visual appeal.
But not this one. This bamboo car, as you can see, looks quite futuristic - sleek and unconventional design. Its not clear whether we'll ever see it on the road, but nevertheless, it is worth taking a look at, to appreciate the skill involved in designing and making this green car.

Phoenix
The car is dubbed the Phoenix and is a design exercise in exploration of new materials for a future time where vehicles are built from recyclable materials.

Designers
The Phoenix is the work of designer Kenneth Cobonpue and German product designer Albrecht Birkner.

Disposable car
At present cars have an average lifespan of 10-20 years in developing nations and just 5 years in developed ones. This puts a lot of pressure on earth's resources. A disposable car on the other hand makes a lot more sense if we are to discard them after a few years.

Craft time
The car was built in just 10 days and incorporates a weaving process to achieve its sleek and streamlined design.

Hand weaved
The Phoenix was in fact crafted by experienced weavers, with "minimal use of tools and energy"

A break from automation
The designers say, the "Phoenix brings back the dignity of the human being and pays homage to the skills of the craftsman."
