Senior Bajaj Auto Executive Dies In Car Crash
A senior Executive working with Bajaj Auto, Amrut Kumar Rath, and his wife passed away in a car crash on the Mumbai Pune Expressway. His two children sustained serious injuries.
The accident took place in Malavli, around 60km from Pune when the car they were travelling in hit a median. The accident took place on Sunday when the family was returning to Pune from Mumbai.
The Pune Highway Safety Patrol (HSP), along with the Lonavala police rushed the victims to a hospital, where 47-year old Amrut Kumar and his wife passed away. The children, a daughter and a son were admitted in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Shankar Awatade, Police Inspector said that the family was in a BMW and had gone to Mumbai to drop off Amrut Kumar's sister. On their way back, Amrut lost control of the car and hit the median. According to the police, it had rained heavily earlier that day and when the accident took place, there was a slight drizzle.
Amrut Kumar Rath was the President of Human Resources at Bajaj Auto and lived in Wakad, while both his children studied in the city.
